The Antills were a wealthy family and she was supposed to enter an arranged marriage, but rejected it and went off and trained as a Nurse and dispening chemist at St Bartholomews Hospital.

An article published on the occasion of her 100th Birthday in January 1982, reords her as saying that she could remember seeing WG Grace and also being taken to the theatre as a small child to see Buffalo Bill!
