General Notes:
The source of all of these notes is not know for certain, but appears to be derived from research by Edmund Soilleux and Ada, Maud Miller.
According to Monsieur Poulain, the Protestant clergyman at Cambrai, the Soilleux family was one of the very oldest of Huguenot families in the north of France. It is stated that in the Wars of the Huguenots they lost most of their lands, and of those that remained in France, at the time of the French Revolution many were dispossessed of almost everything that would enable a tracing back of records of ancestors.
Pierre was possibly a Carpenter in Walincourt
The forefather of the family is recorded as being -
Monsieur CHARLES DIEUDONNE SOILLEUX born about 1643 Date of death unknown. The name of his wife is unknown, but he had one son, namely, ' Pierre Soilleux born 1670 and that's where this tree starts..
French records also show a Marie, Jeanne Soilleux marrying a Pierre Gorliez in Walincourt on 25/07/1712.
Pierre married Catherine Gorlier in 1703. (Catherine Gorlier was born circa 1670.)
